During examination of pigeons, cestodes recovered from the intestine belong to genera Raillietina and Cotugnia with 47.94% intensity of infection whereas nematodes were collected from stomach, intestine and mesenteries belonged to genera Ascaridia and Capillaria with 42.46% prevalence rate while nematode larvae were mainly recovered from mesenteries with 9.59% intensity. The highest intensity of helminth infection was observed in May, 2019 i.e. 88.8% while the lowest rate recorded in July, 2019 i.e. 50%. Mainly parasites were collected from stomach, intestine and mesenteries of pigeon.</p> K.M. K.M. Nadeem A.G. AND EFFECT OF ULTRA VIOLET C RADIATIONS ON IT https://ku-js.com/index.php/kujs/article/view/7 <p>Twenty four fungal species from 13 genera were identified from 12 samples of barley collected from different localities of Pakistan. These fungi were detected by three methods namely, blotter, agar plate and deep freezing methods described by International Seed Testing Association (ISTA). The incidence of fungal flora was comparatively higher in agar plate method as compared to blotter and deep freezing methods. Surface sterilized of seed reduced the incidence of saprophytic fungi while, the incidence of saprophytic fungi was higher in non- sterilized condition. Aspergillus species were observed in all samples tested particularly Aspergillus niger. The most frequently isolated and identified fungi were Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger, A. terreus, Rhizopus stolonifer, Mucor sp. and Trichoderma harzianum. Barley seeds sample collected from Kashmir showed maximum number of fungi were further subjected to treat with ultra violet C (UVC) for different time period. Results showed that incidence of fungi greatly reduced after 30 and 60 days of storage. However, A. alternata and A. fumigatus have no effect after 60 days of storage at room temperature.</p> Shahnaz Dawar Marium Tariq Farheen Farheen Copyright (c) 2021 2021-12-31 2021-12-31 49 2 73 81 FOLIAR ORNAMENTATION AND SURFACE MICRO-MORPHOLOGY OF DOCTOR TREE (MORINGA OLEIFERA LAM.) SEEDLING – AN ACCESSION FROM KARACHI, PAKISTAN https://ku-js.com/index.php/kujs/article/view/8 <p>Foliar ornamentation and surface micro-morphology of Doctor Tree (Moringa oleifera Lam.) seedling is described. According to Garwood’s (1996) classification of seedlings, the seedling of M. oleifera was cryptocotylar- hypogeal- Reserve type with short subterranean hypocotyl. Anticlinal wall of epidermis of mature leaflets was sinuous on dorsal as well as ventral surface. There were three types of trichomes 1) Unicellular smooth walled, straight and apically pointed non-glandular trichomes, 2) Trichomes with curved apex and warted wall and 3) glandular (capitate, exoglands) trichomes were present on petiole, rachii and margins of young leaves. Leaf was hypostomatous and stomata were of anomocytic type. Contiguous stomata of Juxtaposed, at right angle and superimposed types were present. The stomatal density varied on lateral and terminal leaflets. It averaged to 164.82 ± 2.859 (N = 90; CV: 16.45%) stomata per mm2 on larger-sized terminal leaflet and 202.07 ± 3.55 (N = 65; CV: 14.15%) stomata per mm2 on the smaller lateral leaflet. The length of stomata averaged to 19.86 ± 0.57 μm (varying from 14.40 to 28.80 μm, CV: 16.95%) and stomatal width averaged to 9.05 ± 0.3325 μm (varying from 5.60 to 12.8 μm, CV: 21.73%). Waviness of the epidermal cells, in terms of crests per cell, on dorsal surface of leaflet averaged to 6.64 ± 0.15 wave crests per cell varying from 3 to 11 (CV = 22.61%). On ventral surface of leaflet waviness averaged to 6.68 ± 0.173 varying from 3 to 12 (CV = 25.87%). The foliar characters such as sinuous epidermal anticlinal wall pattern, hypostomaticity, the presence of contiguous stomata and the occurrence of warted wall trichomes of our accession from Karachi resembled to that of South Gujrat (India) accession described by Vyas (2019).Key Words: Moringa oleifera Lam., Foliar ornamentation, micromorphology, trichomes of our accession from Karachi resembled to that of South Gujrat (India) accession described by Vyas (2019).</p> D. These atoms/ ions have many applications, including their application in quantum computations. In many cases, Rydberg atoms are considered like a hydrogen-atom, in which one electron revolves around the ionic core.
